As the controversy over capacity of crude oil exploring companies – including the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and its subsidiaries, to produce enough petroleum products for local consumption rages, the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) has said that it targets the production of 400,000 barrels per day, for the next three years.
The Managing Director of NPDC, Yusuf Matashi, stated this, on Friday, in Benin, during the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Health Safety and Environment (HSE) week.
Earlier, the Managing Director of the NNPC, Maikantu Baru, called for adherence to safety at work place and clean environment.
Represented by the General Manager, HSE, Maxwell Ogoh, who stood in for the MD of NPDC, Yusuf Matashi, Baru said his management had designed HSE into every project embarked upon by the company.
In his lecture titled, “The environment is ours to enjoy, preserve it,” Emmanuel Ukpebor lamented the low interest shown by Nigerians to the environment, a factor he said had contributed largely to the low life expectancy ratio in Nigeria presently.
