Cashew Business a Good Opportunity for Non-Oil Sector Export- Group

Honestly, cashew is kind of a big deal for Nigeria right now—way more than most folks probably realize. The government’s basically saying, “Look, we can’t just keep leaning on oil forever.” And, yeah, they’ve got a point. So, they’re trying to get their act together with the National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN), which, let’s be real, has had its fair share of drama and leadership mess-ups.

So here comes Mr. Abiodun Yinusa (the President’s go-to guy for agriculture), dropping a statement about this new, temporary committee for NCAN. They have been out of whack for a while, so now they’re coming out with new personalities.

They just put Ademola Adesokan in as the interim boss—guy’s got a solid rep in the whole agribusiness scene, so that’s promising. Yinusa is all hyped about how Adesokan and his committee are going to vibe with President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda”—which, in plain English, basically means more food, less reliance on oil, and maybe actually getting some value out of what Nigeria grows.

And get this: every NCAN state chapter has to shake things up and actually hold elections within a year. No more endless recycled leadership. About time, right?

Yinusa also gave a shoutout to the agriculture and trade ministries for helping shape this whole Cashew Policy Roadmap (there’s a roadmap for everything these days). NCAN’s supposed to be a partner in making it all happen—not just sitting on the sidelines.

Bottom line: the government wants NCAN to play it straight—be transparent, run things democratically, and back up the official policies. And, for once, it sounds like the top dogs are actually watching to make sure it happens. Guess we’ll see.
