The role of heads of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has been described by the leadership of Dangote Refinery as that of terrorists.
This claim was brought out in a formal statement by Dangote Refinery on Sunday.
This announcement is against the backdrop of a recent order to its members of PENGASSAN to stop working and stop supplying gas and crude to Dangote Refinery.
This was a threat by PENGASSAN after the refinery had swept away workers who had willingly accepted to join the union.
As a reaction to this terrifying state of affairs, Dangote Refinery condemned the activities of PENGASSAN as a bullying strategy, urging the Nigerians and the government to withstand such a tactic.
The oil conglomerate was concerned that the position of the union might suffocate the economic activities of millions of people that rely on petroleum products like kerosene, cooking gas, petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel.
The oligarchs in PENGASSAN have by no means shown themselves to be terrorists and have turned the Association into a coercive organization. It is time they were brought to book.
In fact, the Association has over the years expressed its continued loyalty to interests that do not concur with that of the Nigerians and that of the workers in Nigeria, explained the announcement by the refinery.
Similarly, PENGASSAN has also accused Dangote Refinery of sabotaging the economy of Nigeria by terminating 800 of its workers wrongfully.
