President Tinubu Signs Tax Reform Bills into Law

President Bola Tinubu has officially enacted four tax reform bills, marking what he calls a significant new chapter in the nation’s economic governance.

The signing took place in the presence of key National Assembly leaders, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, among others.

Tinubu emphasized that these reforms aim to do more than just simplify tax codes. He stated that they will introduce the first substantial, pro-people tax cuts in a generation, specifically targeting relief for low-income earners, small businesses, and families striving to make ends meet.

The four bills, now established as Acts, include the Nigeria Tax Bill (Fair Taxation), the Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill, and the Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill.

According to Tinubu, this policy will unify the country’s fragmented tax system, eliminate unnecessary duplications, reduce bureaucratic hurdles, restore investor confidence, and promote transparency and coordination at all levels.
