The Nigerian government, through the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI), has announced the establishment of 65 CNG stations across the country. This initiative coincides with the launch of a new gas pricing framework aimed at making compressed natural gas more accessible and affordable for Nigerians.
Michael Oluwagbemi, the Chief Executive of PCNGI, shared this information during the Mobility CNG Supply Framework Kick-off Event held recently in Abuja. He emphasized that this event marks the beginning of a special pricing structure for gas-to-power initiatives.
Oluwagbemi also mentioned that the country plans to inaugurate 28 additional CNG stations soon. “Today, we are officially launching the implementation of the concessionary pricing framework,” he stated. “Our goal is to organize this process effectively, create a robust market for autogas CNG, and develop a marketplace where consumers can express demand and make payments.”
“The market has experienced significant growth over the past year. We increased our number of daughter stations in the country from just 20 to over 65 as of this morning.
Yesterday (Tuesday), we launched two new stations in Ibadan in partnership with Bovas. Additionally, we have around 27 or 28 more stations set to open in the next four to five weeks. This indicates a thriving market,” he remarked.
