Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reported a revenue generation of N4.2 trillion in the first nine months of 2024.
Bashir Adeniyi, the Comptroller General of NCS, made this announcement during a workshop in Lagos on Saturday.
Adeniyi, who was represented by Dera Nnadi, the Comptroller of the Customs Area Controller at Tincan Island Port Command, expressed pride in the service’s achievement, noting that it has already exceeded the revenue collected in both 2022 and 2023.
The Comptroller General stated that the NCS aims to exceed its 2024 revenue target of N5.3 trillion by year-end.
“This indicates that we have already surpassed our 2023 collection by over N1 trillion, even with the year still ongoing. This highlights the significant progress we have made by leveraging digital technology,” he explained.
He also compared this year’s performance to 2022, when the service collected N2.6 trillion, emphasizing the steady progress made through the adoption of digitalization, ICT, and innovation in their operations.
It is worth noting that the total revenue generated in Nigeria for 2023 was reported at N12.37 trillion by the Federal Inland Revenue Service.
