Fuel scarcity: DPR seals 3 more filling stations

The Kano/Jigawa operations unit of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has sealed three more filling stations in Jigawa State, for selling above the official pump price of N145.
The stations were also sealed for hoarding and outright diversion of the product. This is in addition to the 96 filling stations that were sealed between December and mid-February, as announced by the department last week.
Disclosing the sealing of the filling stations to journalists, in Kano, DPR team leader Kano/Jigawa operations, Paul Jehzi, stated said it was part of the department’s mandate of ensuring that fuel is being sold to the public at the official pump price of N145 per litre.
According to him, Garba Mohammed Investment oil  company Ltd, in Shuwarin area of the state, was found to have diverted 130, 000 litters fuel which warranted outright sealing of its premises.
He further revealed that another filling station that was closed down was found selling at N180 per litre with a stock of over 25, 900 litres adding that the team had to order for the sale of about 2, 000 litres at NNPC filling station at Olusegun Obasanjo Way, in Dutse.
“To ensure availability of the product, even though the states under the DPR’s zone are virtually under-supplied, we have given out contact numbers to buyers of PMS at filling stations to quickly call us and the security operatives, as soon as they notice change in price and  the new strategy is really working and helping a lot, ” stated Paul.
