The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, John Nwodo, has stated that the current fuel shortage in the country was a deliberate attempt by the current administration to impoverish the Igbo people.
He also stated that the policies of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration did not, in any way, favour the sons and daughters of Igbo land. Nwodo said that the fuel scarcity was to ensure that whatever the Igbo people living outside brought to Igbo land would be expended on fuel.
He called on Ndigbo to never forget to bring back their wealth to the homeland. He said this in his Christmas message, adding that the period provides good opportunity for Ndigbo to pray more to God to send succour to alleviate their suffering in the country.
He said, “They know that at this period in the year Ndigbo travel a lot to their homeland, that’s when the government chose to close our airport, that’s when they allow fuel shortage to take place, this is very unfair and insensitive.
“It’s a deliberate policy of impoverishing our people to ensure that whatever wealth our sons and daughters bring home during Christmas is expended on the obvious effect of fuel shortage and none for investment.
“The proceeding events in the country especially as it relates to Ndigbo, since this administration came to power, underscores the imperatives for our people to think of home with their wealth,” Nwodo added.
