FG, states and LGs shared N2.103tn revenue in September

The Federal Government and states and local government councils shared a sum of N2.103 trillion in the form of September 2025 Federation Account Revenue.

This was revealed in a communique issued by the spokesperson of the office of the accountant general of the federation, Bawa Mokwa, on Friday following the Federation account allocation committee, FAAC meeting that was held in Abuja on October 2025.

The amount is less than the N2.2 trillion parted in August 2025.

The N2.103 trillion total distributable revenue included distributable statutory revenue of N1.239 trillion, distributable Value Added Tax, VAT, revenue of N812.593 billion and Electronic Money Transfer Levy, EMTL, revenue of N51.684 billion.

According to a communique made by the FAAC, gross revenue in the month of September 2025 would be at N3.054 trillion, the total. The cost of collection deducted in totality amounted to N116.149 billion, and the transfers, interventions, refunds and savings amounted to N835.005 billion.

Based on the communique, gross statutory revenue of N2.128 trillion was received during the month of September 2025. This was less than the amount of N2.838 trillion which they got in the month of August 2025 of N710.134 billion.

The Value Added Tax, VAT had Gross revenue of N872.630 billion available in September 2025. This compared to higher than N722.619 billion that was available in the month of August 2025 by N150.011 billion.

According to the communique, the Federal Government was entitled to a total sum of N711.314 billion out of the total distributable revenue of N2.103 trillion and the State Governments were entitled to a total sum of N727.170 billion of the distributable revenue.

The local government council got N529.954 billion and the balance of N134.956 billion (13% mineral revenue) was distributed with the benefiting state as derivation revenue.

The communique reported that the Federal Government was given N581.672 billion and the State Governments were given N295.032 billion on the N1.239 trillion distributable statutory revenue.

The Local Government Councils were allocated N227.457 billion and the amount of N134.956 billion (13% of the mineral revenue) was distributed with the benefiting states as derivation revenue.

The Federal Government got N121.889 billion out of the N812.593 billion distributable Value Added Tax, VAT revenue, the State Governments got N406.297 billion and the Local Government Councils got N284.408 billion.

The Federal Government received N7.753 billion, the State Governments N25.842 billion and the Local Government Councils N18.089 billion as a total amount of N51.684 billion Electronic Money transfer Levy, EMTL.

The Import Duty, Value added tax, VAT, and Electronic Money Transfer Levy, EMTL, rose high in September 2025 whereas Companies Income Tax, CIT and CET Levies dropped considerably. Petroleum Profit Tax, PPT, made slight gains whereas Oil and Gas Royalty and Excise Duty made slight losses.
