Non-oil exports surged to an impressive $3.225 billion in the first quarter.

Nonye Ayeni, the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC), revealed that the non-oil commodities shipped out during the initial half of 2025 were valued at $3.225 billion, reflecting a remarkable increase of 19.59 percent compared to the $2.696 billion noted for the corresponding half of 2024.

Ayeni elaborated that the volume also escalated to 4.04 million metric tonnes, contrasting with the 3.83 million metric tonnes reported for the same timeframe in 2024. The council is diligently collaborating with the overseeing Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, along with other pertinent stakeholders, to maintain this robust performance by amplifying both the volume and worth of Nigeria’s non-oil exports.

She articulated this during a progress report meeting on non-oil export achievements for the year 2025 in Abuja, emphasizing that non-oil products exported in the first half of 2025 were valued at $3.225 billion, indicating a 19.59 percent increase over the $2.696 billion observed in the first half of 2024.

As she stated, “The volume similarly rose to 4.04 million metric tonnes, in comparison to 3.83 million metric tonnes for the same period in 2024. Just recently, in April 2025, you may recall that Nigeria’s non-oil products exported in the first quarter of 2025 reached a substantial value of $1.791 billion.

“This signifies a 24.75 percent escalation from the $1.436 billion noted in the First Quarter of 2024. The volume also soared to 2.416 million metric tonnes, which denotes a 24.3 percent improvement over the 1.937 million metric tonnes recorded in the first quarter of 2024. Products Exported In the initial half of 2025, an array of two hundred and thirty-six (236) distinct products were exported during the analyzed period.
