5,500bpd Edo modular refinery to be completed in three months- Obaseki

The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has revealed the plan of the state government to construct modular refinery capable of refining 5,500 barrels per day, and that the construction would start in the next three months.
He further gave an assurance that the Edo Modular Refinery would be so viable that it would create jobs, train youths, among other socio-economic benefits.
The governor made this known during a rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, in Benin City.
He said that the project is a testimony that his recent visit to China was a fruitful one.
“You can recall that I was in China, recently. I went there to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with some Chinese companies. We have signed the agreement for the construction of the first modular refinery in this country. The refinery will be located in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area. Construction work will commence in three months’ time,” Obaseki said.
He added that the project was one of the platforms he wanted to use in delivering his electoral promise of providing 200,00 jobs.
He stated that he was delighted that Edo citizens were trained in welding, refinery operation and fabrication works, adding that this would make them make impact as regards construction, operation and post-commissioning of the refinery.
